Newsflash!
Arboretum Release Date

David's new album will be released on Monday September 6th, exclusively via The Guitar Label with digital distribution following a month later at iTunes and other download sites worldwide. "It's the culmination of two years' fairly intense work and having a date when it will be unleashed on the world makes all of it worthwhile..." David told us. "I'm hopeful that some live dates will follow the release; it's something I'm currently working on."

Meanwhile, if you would like to receive email updates regarding the release of 'Arboretum' and David's live dates, clinics and so on, send us an email with 'mailing list' in the title pane by clicking here and we'll do the rest!

New Book
David’s new book ‘Learn To Play Guitar In 24 Hours’ has just been released. The book contains 24 one hour acoustic guitar lessons for beginners and comes with a specially recorded DVD. But we must point out that it’s not David teaching on the DVD. David says: ‘People are going to ask me why it’s not me teaching on the DVD and so I thought I’d clear this one up straight away. I don’t know why they didn’t use me. It was my publishers’ decision – I wanted to do it myself but they decided to use actors instead. Frankly I’m as puzzled as everyone else by this... I don’t want people mislead into thinking they’re buying a DVD where I’m talking them through the lessons.’

Arboretum Preview!
David has just finished making a video premiering a new track from his forthcoming album 'Arboretum'. The track is called 'Unseen Sunlight' and David's explanation for the title is suitably vague... 'It's that Zen thing of not hearing the tree fall in the forest extended to the sense of sight, too. Something like that, anyway! I wanted it to be secret, mysterious and a bit magical, too...' The video was shot live at the studio where the album is being recorded by engineer/producer Martin Holmes. The album is scheduled for release early in 2010. Stay tuned for more updates, soon!

New Guitar!
Whilst work was in progress to produce the new album, David decided he needed a bespoke acoustic guitar and chose a specially made Fylde Falstaff by Roger Bucknall in Penrith. ‘I needed an instrument that could cope with drop tunings without getting soggy in the mid-range. I tried a few, but when I met Roger we talked about the sort of instrument I wanted and he listened to ’Nocturnal’ so he could hear where I was coming from, musically. So I settled on a Falstaff.’

The new instrument took four months to build and David asked for pictures to be taken at every stage - they’re available to view here: http://photobucket.com/davidmead. ‘It’s a beautiful-sounding guitar – I’m still discovering its hidden depths!’
