BookDavid’s new book ‘Learn To Play Guitar In 24 Hours’ has just been released. The book contains 24 one hour acoustic guitar lessons for beginners and comes with a specially recorded DVD. But we must point out that it’s not David teaching on the DVD. David says: ‘People are going to ask me why it’s not me teaching on the DVD and so I thought I’d clear this one up straight away. I don’t know why they didn’t use me. It was my publishers’ decision – I wanted to do it myself but they decided to use actors instead. Frankly I’m as puzzled as everyone else by this... I don’t want people mislead into thinking they’re buying a DVD where I’m talking them through the lessons.’

Guitar! Whilst work was in progress to produce the new album, David decided he needed a bespoke acoustic guitar and chose a specially made Fylde Falstaff by Roger Bucknall in Penrith. ‘I needed an instrument that could cope with drop tunings without getting soggy in the mid-range. I tried a few, but when I met Roger we talked about the sort of instrument I wanted and he listened to ’Nocturnal’ so he could hear where I was coming from, musically. So I settled on a Falstaff.’ The new instrument took four months to build and David asked for pictures to be taken at every stage - they’re available to view here: http://photobucket.com/davidmead. ‘It’s a beautiful-sounding guitar – I’m still discovering its hidden depths!’
